How many of us watch MTV on a daily bases? I am sure almost half of us if not more, watch some form of MTV. With popular shows like Made,Silent Library and the ever so famous, Jersey Shore, MTV has become the center of reality shows with a funny spin. The latest show that is scheduled to air on MTV next week is called "Hired." And basically it is a show about college graduates who are in need of a job and will do anything to get into their career jobs. It follows companies and employees from PR companies, Fashion clients, publishing and even a social media company. But there is not an advertising company. It just seems hard to understand that one of the hardest industries to get into and the most competitive when you get there, isn't there. These students are chasing after careers in some of the markets hardest industries, yet Advertising isn't there.
We all know how hard advertising is and how it doesn't happened over night. But personally I think it should have been included in the show, but maybe it will at some point of the shows running. To comment on the show, I think it is really exciting and really a good idea. If people are willing to watch kids "fist pump" all summer long, they are going to be willing to watch recent college grads try to make a name for themselves. As a soon to be college graduate, I know I will watch this show. I think it will be interesting to see how people really work and function in the offices of the tough industry. I really honestly thought that was going to be one day, trying to get into a tough industry and try to make a name for myself. But although more recently I have chosen a different career path, one that isn't with advertising or communications, I will still have to make a name for myself in my new career.

Meet The Sienna Family...On Youtube!
Recently there has been a bunch of ads on the television about the brand new Toyota Sienna. It is a mini-van that is targeting to families, who are looking for a reliable, quality and personalized mini-van. Their advertisements have been creative, funny and actually typical to a "normal" family life. They depict a family who loves their Sienna and is happy with their purchase. But at the end of their commercial they tell you to go on to Youtube.com to meet the Toyota family. When you log on to Youtube, and type in Toyota Sienna Family, you will quickly see the commercials that are played on TV, as well as the 2 minute and 27 second long "Toyota Meet the Parents" commercial. As of today there were only 38,356 views. Not really as many as I expected. Granted people do not really have time to do this, I thought it was a new and innovative way to get more people to view your product. When I first heard the commercial, I can honestly say I did not go to Youtube to view it. The first time I did was about 5 minutes ago, so I could write this blog. But I think Toyota is on to something here. Think about it, you run a smart and humorous advertisement on the television that grabs the targets attention, and then cut it short and in your call to action, tell them to go to Youtube to finish watching the commercial or even "Meet the family" like Toyota did. It is a great way to get peoples attention and more attention to your product. Now when I see a Sienna van, I can honestly only think about how comical those commercials that I have seen were. It brings a connection to the company/product.

TV On The Internet!
So you missed your favorite TV show because you were to busy doing that big project? Well I can say I have, but lucky for you, ABC.com, NBC.com, CBS.com and other popular channel stations are more than ever promoting you to watch your favorite TV shows on-line. It is a great way to catch up on lost episodes or to go back and start watching a series from the beginning. While watching TV shows on on-line not only is there little commercials, but the show is actually shorter now. Because they cut out the commercials and make the running time between the advertisements longer, normally a 1 hour show now is about 43 minutes long. It is a different alternative to for people that don't really have time to sit down and watch the 1 hour long show, they can watch it in less time and even pause it and come back.
Personally, I think that this is a great way for people who live fast passed lives to still be able to watch their shows and do it when they want to. It bets waiting for the re-runs to come on over the summer and then you are forced to watch it when they are played. This way you can watch the TV shows when you want to for your laptop. I know I have done this and actually enjoy this. I watch it from the comfort of my bed when I get the chance, whether it be at 10 in the morning or at 10 at night. I have even found myself going on-line to watch a TV show again, because I missed something or I was confused from when I first watched it. Overall, I think it is a great way to get viewers on to the stations web-site and they are even throwing in advertisements for sponsorships. All in all, it is a great way for stations to cater to their viewers.

Solving One Fashion Problem To The Next!

Source: http://www.talentzoo.com/beyond_madison_ave/news.php/Macys-Ad-Campaign-Intervenes-in-the-Name-of-Fashion/?articleID=7195
When we think fashion, we think celebrities, 5th Ave and Paris. Right? Ever walk into your favorite store, see a cute top but not really sure how to wear it? Or do you watch TLC's hit show "What Not To Wear" and think you won't be able to do that yourself. Well now you are in luck. The world famous store, Macy's is putting together a new campaign for their customers. With a set of on-line and commercials that will attempt to fix your fashion challenges. With famous designers like Rachel Roy, Clinton Kelly, and even Donald Trump, Macy's is launching a new way to make sure that their customers have everything to "put it together." Using humor, the stylist and celebrities will help solve all your fashion problems as well as give you ideas to make everything work.
Personally, I think this is a great way to get a brands name out there to the public in a new and exciting way. I love to shop and I am a huge Macy's fan, so by knowing that their is a stylist out there that can help me if I need it, I am more willing to go to that store and buy clothing from them. With helpful hints available on-line, you can not get help no matter the time of day. I also think that is a great way to have people feel important to the company and make it personal. This a great tool to make each and every customer feel special and that they are getting the individual attention all customers deserve.

One Logo..Coming Right Up!!

Source: http://www.johnchow.com/define-your-brand-with-logomyway-com/
When we think of the companies we trust, what do we think of first? Most of the time it is the logo or tag-line of some sort. Think about Apple without the Apple or think about Fruit of the Loom, without the fruit. Everything we own or buy has a logo and we associate those products with the logo. Branding a company means so much and is a great part of any company. But what happens when you need a logo for your company and you don't have one? Paying someone can get costly and what if you don't like the way it turned out. But what if you come up with a simpler and fun way to get an ad for your company. Simply host a competition for designers. They are always looking for agents to buy their designs. This way your company had the freedom to pick which ever logo you like the best and you are exposed to more designs then ever before. And the best part is, you get to set the time length and the prize. You will be able to say "I want this design in 7 days and the prize is $200." This way you can look at 150 designs and only pick only one. The ONE you want to use, the one you want your company's brand to be associated with. It is a win win situation and personally I think it is a great idea for companies to do. Not only does it save then money, they are exposed to more designs and pick the one that fits their company the best.
Make Doritos A New Ad. Be a Millionaire?
Source: http://adsoftheworld.com/blog/make_an_ad_make_a_fortune
Doritos, the famous chip maker has opened up their doors to America to make them the newest advertisement. "King of Ads 2010." They are asking people to create a storyboard, video tape a 29 second commercial and then upload it on to their website. The top 15 will present their ad to a panel and then their top 3 will be viewed by the general and they will pick the King. Not only is their a cash prize, but they get advertisement viewed by millions of across the British TV. What can anyone really lose? This is a great way for advertisers who are trying to get their name out there and to build up their future. It is a free contest and they get the chance to get their ideas out to the public. And if worse comes to worse and the advertisers don't win, who knows what else they can gain from this. Maybe somewhere out there someone viewed it, fell in love with it, and they sign the advertiser.
I think this is a great way for people to try and get their advertisements out there and a great way to get known. If I had an opportunity like that, I would not let it slip by.

Go Ahead And Bury Your Bag!

This post is in response to the recent purchase of a Sun Chips bag. While enjoying my chips, I could not help but be more annoyed my the sound that the bag makes because the new bags are 100% biodegradable. 1st the first bag of it's kind, where you can bury it in your lawn and it would totally biodegraded in weeks. But now you are probably wondering how this relates to advertising or that I am just totally out of my mind, but personally I think this is such a marketable tool that everyone should jump on. Think about past years and how so many companies and products have become "green" and are supposed to be better for our planet. So many things we seen now are healthier and better for us that companies are taking this to a whole new level. Sun Chips is using this whole new way a packaging their product almost like a whole new way of marketing the product. They have taken all the steps in advertising to create a new "image" of the product and all the benefits it has for our planet.
Personally, I think this is a great idea. But will I ever bury my Sun Chips bag? Most likely not. I will just throw it away like any other product bag. But did the idea get me to read the whole bag and even visit their website? Yes it did. It even got me to write my blog about it, and even tell my friends about the new bag. And personally, because the bag is biodegradable and good for the planet earth, I am more likely to buy the product because I know it is doing good. So, look the bag that was making to much noise for my liking, got me to blog about it, tell my friends and continue to buy the product. With companies using "go green" tactics in their marketing's and advertising plans will help boost their sales and help get their name out there.
